Some of my work is on exhibition at the New Inn at
Winterbourne Monkton near Avebury (SN4 9NW) during the whole of July (but
please note that the pub is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, open
Thurs and Friday from 5pm, open all day Saturday and from 12 on Sunday). The
pub is a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk from Avebury.
There is a mixture of old and new paintings and prints, featuring British Wildlife (particularly the hare).
This year I have been writing more poetry to accompany
the images, sometimes writing directly into the ink and oil pastel, or I may
just use the words as an extra source of inspiration. I will also be displaying
these new poems in the exhibition.
I usually create my artwork in the first half of the year and the initial ideas take form in January, so this results in a lot of wintery imagery (tangled bare branches and prickly teasels); I have to try quite hard to produce anything summery, despite being a sun loving Leo! I breathe in inspiration from my walks in the woods around Combe Down (on the outskirts of Bath) with my 3 dachshunds.
